I've downloaded a couple of mod files and would like to install.

The path on my pc is: c/swd3g/evochronmercenary

And then of course is the data within that folder. Is that where, say, a new HUD and Nebula file would be placed?

Don't want to screw this up.

Thanks.

Every mod goes into the install directory. So you would want to put it where your .exe is, environment, hud, ships, etc folders will have to be dragged into the folder with your .exe. So by the looks of it pop that hud folder right into evochronmercenary. :) Hope that helps!

Go to where the exe file is (like said above), the files of the hud should be placed in a file named hud and the nebula goes to a file named environment (if they are not allready on files with that names from the mods you downloaded).

From post: 140350, Topic: tid=9532, author=Letoras wrote:... file named hud ... file named environment ....
 Actually, the files go into folders ... previously (in DOS days) known as directories. ;)

I've tried to install and run a cockpit mod with jsgme and am unable to get it to work. I installed jsgme into my game folder and then installed the mod. The mod shows up in jsgme and looks as though it is enabled from the left to the right columns but will not function ingame?

 Make sure you place the mod inside the correct mod folder (for example, HUD mods go inside a folder labeled: hud) and then that folder is placed inside a folder given any name you want ... usually a name which describes what mods are inside. Finally, check the folder you dragged ... make sure it's inside the MODS folder which is what's in the main game folder.

 The Directory branching might look like this: C:\\sw3dg\\EvochronMercenary\\MODS\\Cockpit Mod\\hud

;) And, inside the hud folder are your actual mods.

 I balked at using JSGME for a long time because of the folder-inside-a-folder goat rope. But, once I got used to it ... well, I'll never go back to the manual installation of mods. JSGME is a lot faster and it protects previous (but still installed) mods from being deleted. Really great for when you're testing many mods at once or many versions of a single mod.

Hi and welcome Falcon.

I don't know how much you know about the mod thing, so I'll explain it as if you know nothing about it.

The game folder:
C:\\sw3dg\\EvochronMercenary\\

In there you should put the folders with your mods:
- menu (For images regarding buttons etc)
- loading (For loading images)
- rings (For planet rings images)
- ships (Engine exhaust images, ship frames, wormholes etc)
- environment (Background stars, lens flares, atmosphere haze, nebulas etc)
- hud (Cockpit textures, compass etc and hudtext.dat + chattext.dat for colors and fonts)
- sounds (Sound effects)
- radio (com between player and other ships)
- alerts (vocal alerts)
- music (Sound tracks for various threat levels)

This is all from the ModKit that you can find here: http://www.starwraith.com/evochronmerce ... nloads.htm

Good luck!

 Post your directory branching, starting with the hard drive ... all the way down to the individual files.
