Which kind of cell phone do you own?

Post by Vice »

There have been some interesting details that have come up in the news over the last few days reguarding the Android phone, which seems to be making huge gains in popularity. These include:

- Android sales increased 886% over the last year.

- Announced today, Android sales are now higher than iPhone.

- Android market share currently stands at 27%, ahead of iPhone's 23%.

- iPhone market share has dropped from 34% to 23% since the beginning of the year.

- Android is now on pace to pass the current market leader, the Blackberry, which is at 33%.

So which kind of cell phone do you own? I'm aware of some pros and cons of each, but I'd be interested to hear additional thoughts on your decision to go with the phone you have.

iPhone.
Least hassle, easiest to use(IME). Sure, it's more expensive, but you get what you pay for sometimes.

From what I've seen of the Android system it seems like a bit of a mess. :|

Voted as other...

I am windows mobile user. I have "HTC hd2" right now. Works great with win mobile 6-5. Windows mobile 7 on the way and we "HTC hd2" users have permission to install it. Windows mobile works great with office apps, outlook and I prefer to use it in business... Windows mobile needs powerful phones to work fast but it works great!

I didn't know anything about other os, I can do everything with my phone... And HTC2 is the best phone in the market. Samsung Galaxy i9000 is out now with little more ram and rom (with android os), but its screen is smaller(4 inch) than HTC hd2(HTC hd2 has 4.3 inch screen!!!)

HTC2 has no second cam but supports 3g... It is so cool for me, because I am single. No visual feedback, especially about my location, got it?

:P

Nokia 5800 ExpressMusic.

Before I got this phone I was going to get an iPhone but bought an iPod Touch and realised how much of a gimmick the iPhones were and changed my mind. This phone costs half as much per month on contract and does everything the iPhone does and more. Sold the iPod Touch after that too.

I go for the contract value now instead of the phone.

 Admittedly, I was tempted when I found one that was patterned after Dick Tracy's wrist radio.

Android here, got a HTC Desire running Android 2.2. Easily the best phone/OS I've had. I had an Xperia X1 running Windows 6.1 and 6.5 before, and it was awful. Slow, painful to use, and generally not very good.

I was going to get an iPhone 3GS, but at the last moment decided to get the Desire... it was the best phone related decision I've made! I love Android tbh. I like the freedom that Android offers over iOS - the google integration is brilliant (free satnav!)

I use the htc desire and its fantastic!
seriously I've only had it a month and im converted. At my work most of the people have the iphone 3gs and it beats it hands down. I use it for most of my casual internet browsing ( including this site, facebook, email and twitter) as well as playing games. I can't wait for evochron:android ( hint hint :P )

android here... samsung moment (got a nice discount on it through my job)..... sucked that it was stuck with version 1.5 for so long, but finally got 2.1 not long ago... found a good 'hacker' site with plenty of upgrades/etc, so I flashed their version of 2.1 with root access to clear out the bloatware that was standard on the phone.

I use a cheap prepaid flip phone. I'm far too anti-social to use a phone much outside of emergencies. :P

HTC EVO 3D
The 3D is a gimmick tho there is a wow factor to impress half of your friends, the other half gets a headache. The 5mp camera on it is better than the HTC EVO 4G at 8mp. With the dual core processor it is really snappy. Games run flawlessly. Battery life is very good. 4.3 screen is great. Sense 3.0 is really nice too. I haven't bothered to root it and probably won't. Did that with my EVO 4G so I could hotspot but never used it, just USB tether.

HTC evo 4g, loving it so far, but definately looking forward to my scheduled upgrade next March. It is a battery hog which is why I use two extended life batteries plus a battery charger LOL. The trick to having good battery life on the android phones is to turn on the 3g or 4g only when you need it otherwise, switch off and use wifi and go easy on the games that's another battery drain LOL. :P

I use a regular Nokia phone. It's all very impressive how those phones nowadays house all kinds of nifty technologies, but as long as mine does what it needs to do - phone, wake me up in the morning and send messages if need be, I'm happy with it.

I have a can tied to a string, on the other end, a second can. That second can is where the magic happens. I have recently upgraded my string for greater conductivity and range. It has boosted my performance by 30 percent.
