Evochron Gate for Evochron Mercenary

Post by Dreagar »

This is the official thread for my new mod, Evochron Gate.
Evochron Gate is intended to allow players to immerse themselves in the wildly popular setting of Stargate.

The backstory is that your part of an expidition of Ancients into Ori territory, your job is to colonise systems and drive out the Ori. You will have at your disposal ships in the Stargate Universe style and modified items to give you an advantage.

I am Currently working on
*Replacing Textures and models and expermenting with higher resoloution assets.

Well this post is subject to change, so please post a comment.

The mod is abandoned due to difficulties with importing models.

Firstly, it seems I need help exporting ship models from sketchup to Evochron Merc, if anyone knows a good exporting method I will be very grateful.

BTW is it possible to go past the set texture size and or file size? As I want to push my computer to its limits with higher def ships and planets.

It seems the mod is at a standstill, simply because I am clueless as to how I can convert a file like this into a .X file,

If anyone can give me a step by step guide, I will gladly continue work.

Also sorry for being away I got frustrated and quit.

Found one and tried it.
Sadly the models killed my game, I tried making them smaller and less detailed to no avail. I doubt it's my specs as I have 3 or 4 gigs RAM free and a ATI Radeon HD 5700 series graphics card; my specs should be good enough.

If it is possible, I'd appreciate someone showing me how.

Error message, but It's been a while since I used those models - I probably don't have them anymore.

Some advice for anyone willing to continue the project.
I think the original model is too big, as most space games use 'shrunken' models to make the map feel larger. The model is also far too detailed, so that may prove a problem. And I think the components need to be grouped into one object for the conversion process to work, but I'm too stupid to figure it out.
